One System, Both Seasons
Heat Pump Service From ICON

A heat pump is the only piece of equipment in the house doing two jobs. In summer it cools like an air conditioner; in winter it reverses and moves heat indoors instead of burning fuel. That is why replacing a heat pump replaces two systems at once, and why servicing one is not the same as servicing a furnace.

Because it runs in both seasons, a heat pump piles up far more operating hours than a system that sits idle half the year. Reversing valves, defrost cycles and refrigerant charge all need attention that a cooling-only tune-up never touches. Our EPA and NATE-certified technicians have serviced heat pumps in West Chester since 2014.

Comparing your options? A gas furnace paired with central air is the two-system alternative, and a ductless mini-split is a heat pump that needs no ductwork at all.

Our Heat Pump Services

Heat Pump Repair and Maintenance

Compressor issues, refrigerant leaks, electrical faults, thermostat malfunctions, frozen coils, reversing valve failures and drainage problems. Tell us which mode is failing, heating or cooling, because that single detail narrows the diagnosis considerably.

Heat Pump Repair and Maintenance

Heat Pump Installation and Replacement

Once a system is 10 to 15 years old, needs frequent repairs or cannot hold the temperature you set, it is time to price a replacement. We run a home assessment, help you select the right system, install it, test it thoroughly and show you how to operate and maintain it.

Heat Pump Installation and Replacement

Our Heat Pump Installation Process

Because a heat pump has to satisfy the house in both directions, sizing it is a different calculation from sizing a cooling-only system. Our process runs in five steps:

  • Home Assessment We evaluate your home's size, layout and comfort needs.
  • System Selection Our experts help you choose the right heat pump for your home.
  • Professional Installation Our certified technicians ensure proper installation.
  • System Testing We thoroughly test the new system to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Customer Education We show you how to operate and maintain your new heat pump.

That last step matters more on a heat pump than on other equipment. Heat pump thermostats behave differently from furnace thermostats, and knowing how yours is set up is what keeps the system from defaulting to backup heat all winter.

Weighing a Heat Pump Against a Furnace and AC?

Frequently Asked Questions

Heat Pump Services F.A.Q.

How is a heat pump different from a furnace and air conditioner?

A heat pump does both jobs with one outdoor unit. In summer it moves heat out of the house the way an air conditioner does, and in winter it runs in reverse to move heat in rather than burning fuel to create it. That is why it takes the place of two separate systems.

Why is ice forming on my outdoor unit?

A light frost that clears on its own is the normal defrost cycle doing its job. Ice that builds up and stays is a fault, and it usually traces back to defrost controls, low refrigerant or restricted airflow. Have it looked at rather than chipping the ice off, which risks damaging the coil.

How often should a heat pump be serviced?

More often than a furnace or air conditioner alone, because a heat pump works in both seasons instead of resting for half the year. Regular maintenance covers refrigerant levels, the reversing valve, defrost operation, coil condition and electrical connections, and it is the simplest way to avoid a breakdown in peak weather.

How quickly can you schedule heat pump repair?

We offer fast, flexible scheduling with same-day service available in many cases. Call us at (513) 998-4266 and we'll get you on the schedule promptly.
